ABOUT US

Who We Are:

We are the Presbytery of San Joaquin which is a regional governing body for the Presbyterian Church (USA).  Our borders stretch from Madera in the north to Bakersfield in the south, and Coalinga in the west to Three Rivers in the west.  We are twenty six worshipping communities in urban & rural settings that seek to witness to Christ Jesus and the Good News of the Gospel.  We welcome all to our houses of worship and invite you to join us in serving the Central Valley of California in the name of Christ.

What We Believe:

The Presbytery of San Joaquin is a protestant communion which is part of the Reformed Tradition.   We have a Book of Confessions that traces our theological roots but the most commonly used statement of faith is the Apostles Creed.

I believe in God the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord,
Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,
Born of the Virgin Mary,
Suffered under Pontius Pilate,
Was crucified, dead, and buried:
He descended into hell;
The third day he rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven,
And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost;
The holy Catholic Church;
The Communion of Saints;
The Forgiveness of sins;
The Resurrection of the body,
And the Life everlasting.
Amen.

Creo en Dios, Padre todopoderoso,

creador del Cielo y de la Tierra.

Creo en Jesucristo su único Hijo, Nuestro Señor,

que fue concebido por obra y garcia del Espíritu Santo;
nació de Santa María Virgen;
padeció bajo el poder de Poncio Pilato;
fue crucificado, muerto y sepultado;
descendió a los infiernos;
al tercer día resucitó de entre los muertos;
subió a los cielos

y está a la diestra de Dios Padre;
